Chemical Oversight Advisory Committee
The primary mission of the Chemical Oversight Advisory Committee (COAC) is to recommend campus-wide policy for dealing with chemical handling and disposal issues related to the University.

Institutional Biosafety Committee
Southern Illinois University at Carbondale recognizes the need to protect faculty, staff, students and guests from incidents involving hazardous biological materials. This committee ensures that faculty and staff who conduct research with hazardous biological materials conform to acceptable standards.

Radiological Control Committee
The RCC formulates basic policies for uniform practice throughout the University wherever radioactive materials or radiation producing devices are involved.
