What a perfect day for a
cleanup! We had a warm, sunny day and everyone was in a
good mood! There were many volunteers from the University
and around town. People were sent all over town,
including Giant City Road and Route 13. After all of
their hard work, volunteers received a free t-shirt and
some yummy lunch. A big thanks to Kris Schachel,
Executive Director
of Keep Carbondale Beautiful
for making this such a big success!
This was a big day for BSISA
members. We were sent to Route 13 in front of the mall,
and we managed to collect about 150 pounds of litter and
recyclable materials.
Some of the members sported their new tie-dyed t-shirts
from Schwartzkopf Printing, and they looked really great.
After the big cleanup and some
hotdogs for lunch, BSISA members were off to plant flowers
with Girl Scouts on Marion Square. The girls who
participated were from Marion and Johnson City. Everyone
did a great job and really made the square come alive with
the beautiful flowers! Thanks to AcuGrow in Marion for
the flower donations. We really appreciated it!
