Ms. Martens’ nomination stated
in part:
“Kristina is extremely health
conscious and environmentally friendly. She works
hard at educating her friends, family, and co-workers
on the importance of recycling.”
In presenting Kristina with the award,
Paul Restivo stated: “Kristina’s efforts
to not only recycle items herself, but to also educate
her friends and co-workers is an inspiration to us
all. Her efforts make it clear that one person really
can make a tremendous impact on the environment. If
everyone on our campus had the same enthusiasm and
penchant for recycling as Kristina, we would no doubt
leave our planet in better shape for the next generations.
We at CEHS commend Kerry for her outstanding contribution
to recycling and for her concern for the environment.”
Upon receiving the award and gift of
a portfolio with pen, Ms. Martens commented:
“I have been recycling for as
long as I can remember. To me, recycling is a way
that I can give back to the earth and keep it in as
good of shape, or better in some cases, for future
generations.”
